KH Turk
KH Türk , with full name Karl Heinz Türk (born January 30, 1928 in Hirschberg (Silesia) , † June 19, 2001 in Nürtingen ) was a German artist ( painting , sculpture and graphics ).
life and work
Karl Heinz Türk came to Wolfenbüttel after serving in the Reich Labor Service and in the Wehrmacht (1944/1945) . As one of the first young people, Türk went to Scotland shortly after the end of the war , where he stayed from 1946 to 1948 and worked in one of the anthroposophically oriented homes of the Camphill movement ; he made his first experiences as a curative educator . This was followed by an encounter with the sculptor Barbara Hepworth in Cornwall . It was here that the intense will to become creative oneself developed.
After two years in England, Türk returned to Wolfenbüttel; here he began studying at the Werkkunstschule Braunschweig (1950 to 1952). Two years later he moved to Stuttgart in order to acquire the tools for his later profession as a freelance sculptor at the academy from Professors Otto Baum , Hills, Schellenberger and Daudert (1953 to 1956).
From 1957 KH Türk worked as a freelance artist in Hardt , a district of Nürtingen.
In Nürtingen, KH Türk and his wife Ilse († April 29, 2001) founded the Free Art School (today Free Art Academy ) in 1977 and the University of Art Therapy in 1986 , which he headed as the founding rector from 1987.
In 1985, KH Türk was appointed honorary professor by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science and Art , and in 1987 professor. In 2018, a memorial for the artist and school founder was inaugurated at the Free Art Academy in Nürtingen.
