The alder drepanidae ( Drepana curvatula ), also Erlensichler called, is a butterfly from the family of owls spinners and drepanidae (Drepanidae).
features
The moths reach a wingspan of 34 to 42 millimeters. The front and rear wings of the animals are brownish purple in color. On the forewing, a dark line runs in a curve from the wing tip to the inner edge of the wing. In addition, some clearly separated light, brown and fine gray cross bars alternate. The same bandages can be found on the hind wings, but the light areas are missing. In addition, the alder sickle-winged wing has two small, light, dark-edged points in the center of the front wing.

Occurrence
The animals are mainly found in Central and Northern Europe , but are absent on the British Isles . They prefer alder and birch breaks and alluvial forests . But you can also find them in damp deciduous forests .
Way of life
Flight and caterpillar times
The moths fly in two generations from late April to May and from July to August. The caterpillars from the eggs of the first generation are found from August to September, the second in June of the following year.

The caterpillars feed on alders ( Alnus ) such as the black alder ( Alnus glutinosa ) and birch trees ( Betula ).
