Erna Bogen , also Bogen-Bogáti or Bogathy , after marriage to Gerevich (born December 31, 1906 in Jarosław , † November 23, 2002 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian fencer who took part in the Olympic Games three times .

Life

Erna Bogen was born as the daughter of k. u. k. -Offizier and fencing master Albert Bogen , after the First World War, the family moved to Hungary, in the 1930s they changed their name.

At the Olympic Games in Amsterdam in 1928 , Albert Bogen competed with the Hungarian epee team. Erna Bogen also competed and was eliminated in the round of 16 of the foil competition. Four years later, at the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Erna Bogen won the bronze medal. In her third Olympic participation in 1936 , she reached the intermediate round. At the unofficial world championships in 1931 and 1933 Erna arches reached second place. With the Hungarian team she won the title three times from 1933 to 1935 and took second place in 1936. At the first official World Cup in Paris in 1937 , she was part of the winning team with Ilona and Margit Elek .

In 1938 Erna Bogen married the saber fencer Aladár Gerevich , and in 1946 their first son was born. In 1948, on the day of her husband's Olympic victory, she gave birth to Pál Gerevich , who, like his parents and grandfather, won medals at the Olympic Games.
