Erna Fassbinder b. Rieth (born March 24, 1898 in Stuttgart ; † May 28, 1980 in Weissach / Flacht ) was a German actress and broadcaster for the Süddeutscher Rundfunk in Stuttgart.

Live and act

Born as the daughter of the businessman Max Rieth and his wife Martha geb. Bose, she attended the Von-Priessensche-Höhere-Töchter-Institut and a boarding school in Munich, before starting a two-year training course with the Stuttgart acting teacher Emmy Remolt-Jessen .

In December 1916, Erna Rieth made a guest appearance at the Ducal Court Theater in Altenburg as Luise in Kabale und Liebe and was then given a three-year contract. As Amalie in Schiller's Robbers , as Gretchen in Faust , as Juliet in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and in many other roles, she had great success there. At the same house she met the opera singer Wilhelm Fassbinder , whom she married in 1921. With him she returned to Stuttgart. This was followed by piece contracts at the Württemberg State Theater and on open-air stages. From 1925 on she was regularly involved in broadcasts on the Süddeutscher Rundfunk , including Tartuffe and Das Glas Wasser (both in 1926). There was an interruption between 1930 and 1933 when she was living at the local theater in Halle an der Saale because of her husband's engagement .

After the end of the Second World War, Albert Hofele brought her back to the Süddeutscher Rundfunk, where she has since delighted listeners in countless programs. The 25 programs "Familie Staudenmaier" with Erna Fassbinder as "Frieda" and Hofele as her husband Gustav were a great success in the 1950s. Many programs and radio plays with Willy Reichert , fairy tales and poems, women's radio and information programs offered her grateful tasks until the early 1970s.

She also took part in the five-part television series "Germany your Swabians" based on the book by Thaddäus Troll, which was broadcast in 1972 .

Her daughters Beate, Reni and Brigitte emerged from her marriage to Wilhelm Fassbinder . The architect Michael Frielinghaus and the actor Paul Frielinghaus are her grandchildren.
