Ernest Gabmann (born April 19, 1949 in Amaliendorf ) is an Austrian politician of the ÖVP . From 21 December 2004 to February 2009 he was Governor -Stellvertreter in Lower Austria .

Ernest Gabmann attended a secondary school in Strebersdorf in Vienna's 21st district and a business school in Vienna. He then worked in his father's building materials and mineral oil trade in Schrems in the Lower Austrian Waldviertel . He was involved in the Chamber of Commerce and in 1983 was elected regional chairman of the “Young Economy” of Lower Austria, in which young entrepreneurs are organized among the compulsory members of the Chamber of Commerce .

In 1984 he took over his father's company and was managing partner of Ernest Gabmann GmbH until 1992. In 1986 he was elected to the Schrems municipal council, and in 1988 he received a mandate in the Lower Austrian state parliament of the ÖVP majority faction . He ended his entrepreneurial activity when he was appointed to the Lower Austrian provincial government in 1992 by the new governor Erwin Pröll as provincial councilor for economy, technology and tourism. In 2004 Gabmann was also deputy governor.

On February 18, 2009, Governor Pröll announced that Gabmann was resigning from his mandate as Regional Councilor and moving to the Management Board of Flughafen Wien AG . Pröll was able to announce this before the airport supervisory board was dealt with the personnel issue because the state of Lower Austria is one of the two major shareholders of the airport. Gabmann could not expect any further career advancement in politics; the change to airport management on March 1, 2009 is intended to signal the problem-solving capacity of ÖVP Lower Austria. Gabmann's predecessor as one of the three airport managing directors, also part of the ÖVP, was made jointly responsible by the media and opposition politicians for major problems and enormous cost increases in the construction of the new “Skylink” terminal.

In an anonymous letter in May 2010, there were serious allegations against Gabmann, which ultimately resulted in his dismissal at the end of 2011.

Since the beginning of 2012 he has been the managing director of Lisa Film .

Ernest Gabmann is married and has two children. His son Ernest Gabmann junior is also in politics and is most recently a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament of the Stronach team .
