Ernest Hodder-Williams

Sir Ernest Hodder-Williams (born February 17, 1873 ; died September 20, 1941 ) was a British publisher and co-owner of the Hodder & Stoughton publishing house in London . He was best known as a publisher of Edgar Wallace's novels .

In April 1919 he was ennobled as a Knight Bachelor and in 1921 as Commander of the Royal Victorian Order . In addition, he was first awarded the Officer's Cross of the Order of the Crown of Italy in 1921 and later that year with the Commander's Cross of the same order.

Hodder-Williams met Edgar Wallace through his agent Alexander Strahan Watt from the agency AP Watt & Son Ltd in 1921. Since then he has published all of the writer's new publications in England and has become very successful.
