Jaroslav František Věšín (Bulgarian Ярослав Вешин; born May 23, 1860 in Vrané , Austria-Hungary , † May 9, 1915 in Sofia ) was a Czech painter.

Life

Věšín studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague from 1876 to 1880 . There was Jan Swerts his teacher. In 1883 he completed his studies at the Munich Art Academy under Carl Theodor von Piloty . After 1884 he worked in Slovakia until he returned to Munich in 1890.

In 1897 he moved to Sofia and taught at the local painting school. In Bulgaria he was one of the founders of Bulgarian landscape painting; The first hunting scenes in Bulgarian painting can also be traced back to him. In many of his works he also devoted himself to depicting rural life in Bulgaria.

As court painter to the Bulgarian Prince Ferdinand and official painter of the Bulgarian army, he also painted numerous military motifs such as army exercises, battles, etc.
