Ernesto Antonio Claramount Roseville ( 1924 - mid- June 2008 ) was a military man and politician in El Salvador .
Life
Ernesto Claramount Roseville was the son of Blanca Roseville and Brigadier General Ing. Antonio Claramount Lucero (born June 13, 1886, † July 25, 1975), a pilot. He attended the Escuela Militar General Gerardo Barrios . In the 1940s he attended the cavalry school of the Mexican Army. In July 1969 he was in command of the war against Honduras .
The party alliance Unión Nacional Opositora put him, when he was a retired colonel, for the elections on February 20, 1977 as a presidential candidate. The former mayor of San Salvador José Antonio Morales Ehrlich (also: Erlich , * 1935) of the Partido Demócrata Cristiano was planned as vice-president .

The apparent electoral fraud was protested in the Plaza de Libertad in San Salvador and the demonstration with around 100 people killed was suppressed.
The government gave Claramount an ultimatum : Either to be arrested by the military, placed under house arrest, or to leave the country. Accordingly, he was voluntarily brought to Costa Rica in an Air Force plane .
Allegedly, Ernesto Antonio Claramount Roseville was asked by Constitutionalistas in the FAES in Costa Rica in May 1979 to head a coup.

- Carlos Humberto Romero ( Partido de Conciliación Nacional ) received 812,281 votes, which corresponds to 67%
- Ernesto Claramount Roseville (UN) received 394,661 votes
The population of El Salvador were about 4.255 million people. 1,206,942 were entered in the electoral register.

On December 22, 2008 the establishment of a foundation with his name ( Fundacion Coronel de Caballeria DEM Ernesto Antonio Claramount Roseville ) was announced.
He is buried in the Monte Elena Complejo Funerario cemetery in Antiguo Cuscatlán, La Libertad .
