Ernesto Elorduy
Ernesto Elorduy (born December 11, 1855 in Zacatecas , † January 6, 1913 in San Ángel ) was a Mexican pianist and composer.
Life
Elorduy came to Europe in 1871, attended the conservatory in Hamburg and was a student of Clara Wieck , Anton Rubinstein , Joachim Raff and Carl Reinecke . In 1878 he went to Paris , where he completed his training with Chopin's pupil George Mathias . Stays in the Balkans and Turkey left traces in his compositions such as the piano pieces Airam , Aziyadé and the Serenata árabe .
From 1884 to 1891 he held various positions in the diplomatic service in France and Spain. He then returned to Mexico, where he worked as a pianist and mainly presented his own works. In 1900 his Zarzuela Zulema appeared in the orchestration of Ricardo Castro Herrera . In 1903 it was performed with great success in another orchestration by Eduardo Vigil y Robles . Between 1901 and 1906 Elorduy taught at the Mexico City Conservatory .
In addition to the aforementioned Zarzuela, Elorduy mainly composed waltzes, dances, berceusen and other works for piano.
