Ernie Barbarash

Ernie Barbarash (* 1968 in the Soviet Union ) is a film director , screenwriter and film producer .

Life

Barbarash was born in what is now Ukraine and grew up there and in Canada. He obtained a master's degree in theater directing and then worked in New York as a theater director and in the field of lighting design . He got a job as an assistant director for a Broadway musical, the performance of which was postponed for months, so that he finally took a job at the film company Cinépix (later Lionsgate ) in order to be able to stay in the USA . There he got to know the film business as an employee in development. From the end of the 1990s he appeared as a co-producer and full producer, among others he was on The First 9 1/2 Weeks (1998), Prisoner of Love (1999) and American Psycho II: The Horror Goes On (2002) involved. In 2002 he worked as a screenwriter on Cube 2: Hypercube and finally made his directorial debut in 2004 with Cube Zero , a prequel. Action and horror films followed, among others. a. three productions so far - Assassination Games , Six Bullets and Pound of Flesh - with Jean-Claude Van Damme in the leading role.
