Ernst-August Cornelius

Ernst-August Cornelius (born November 14, 1898 in Lunden , Holstein ; † June 21, 1983 in Dithmarschen ) was a German professor of mechanical engineering .

Life

Cornelius studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University in Charlottenburg, where he became a member of the then Corps Rheno-Burgundia (later Saxo-Borussia Berlin). After graduating, he became a scientific assistant at the chair for motor vehicles at the Technical University. From 1923 to 1934 he was a research assistant and later a department head at the Eckernförde torpedo research institute. In 1928 he received his doctorate in engineering. In 1934 he received a call to the chair for general machine design at the TH Berlin-Charlottenburg, where he also headed the associated research institute.

On leave at the outbreak of the Second World War, Cornelius founded the "Arbeitsgemeinschaft Cornelius" (AGC) to help solve technical problems with torpedo weapons following instructions from the High Command of the Navy .

After the end of the war he returned to his chair, to which the Institute for Machine Elements and the Research Institute with a test center for artificial limbs were attached.
