Willy Juerges

Willy Jürges (born March 15, 1868 in Göttingen ; † June 30, 1920 ) was director of the Van der Zypen & Charlier wagon factory .

After an apprenticeship as a stone cutter, he completed the trade school in Buxtehude and then studied from 1891 to March 1895 at the engineering school of the ETH Zurich . He worked for the Hanover Tramway for four years. In 1897, together with Theodor Krüger, he developed a vehicle that can roll both on rails and on the ground in order to pull goods into the goods operation outside the railway line. In 1902 they were granted Austrian patent no. 6601. He then worked at the wagon factory in Cologne-Deutz , where he rose to the position of head of operations and director.

In his free time he dealt with problems of descriptive geometry and mechanics . As a result of an operation, he died on June 30, 1920 at the age of 53.
