Ernst-Christian Gerhold (* 1942 in Linz ) is an Austrian Evangelical Lutheran theologian .

Life

His father Gerhard Gerhold was a pastor in the Heilandskirche in Graz , where Ernst-Christian Gerhold grew up. From 1961 to 1966 he studied Protestant theology in Vienna and Berlin . He also received training in recorder and flute at the Graz Conservatory and studied history in Graz for four semesters. Gerhold completed his vicariate from 1966 to 1968 in Bruck an der Mur , where he was ordained pastor in 1968 . He first worked as a pastor in the school service at the Grazer Heilandskirche and taught a. a. at the Academic Gymnasium in Graz . In 1976 he became a specialist inspector for Protestant religious instruction at high and middle schools in Styria and Burgenland .

In 1987 Ernst-Christian Gerhold was elected as the successor to Günter Matthias Rech as Superintendent of the Evangelical Superintendent of AB Styria . He was also Vice-President of the Synod of the Evangelical Church AB in Austria and the General Synod of the Evangelical Church A. u. HB in Austria . In his work as superintendent, he made a special effort to promote ecumenism . In 1999 Gerhold resigned from office. His successor as superintendent was Hermann Miklas .
