Günter Matthias Rech

Günter Matthias Rech (born January 8, 1932 in Cochem ; † June 8, 1987 in Graz ) was a German-Austrian Evangelical Lutheran theologian . From 1983 to 1987 he was Superintendent of the Evangelical Superintendent of AB Styria .

Life

Günter Matthias Rech studied Protestant theology at the Bethel Church University as well as in Mainz , Bonn and Vienna . In 1961 he passed his exams and started his vicariate at the Erlöserkirche in the seventh district of Graz, Liebenau . He was ordained there and made pastor in 1963. Rech also worked from 1975 as a senior at the Evangelical Superintendent of AB Styria. In 1976 he was a candidate against Dieter Knall as successor to Martin Kirchschlager in the office of superintendent of the Styrian superintendent, but lost the election. In 1983, Rech was elected superintendent as the successor to Knall, who became Bishop of the Evangelical Church AB in Austria . He was particularly committed to the ecumenical movement and foreign relations of the superintendent. Günter Matthias computing died a few years after taking office to cancer . His successor as superintendent was Ernst-Christian Gerhold .
