Ernst August Jueres

Ernst August Jüres (* 16th October 1920 in Münster , † April 2012 ), most recently living in Winsen, was a German sociologist who especially in the two decades after World War II as co-author (along with Heinrich Popitz , Hans Paul Bahrdt and Hanno Kesting ) was involved in pioneering industrial sociological publications, for example “ The Worker's Image of Society ”. From 1973 he was Professor of Sociology at the University of Economics and Politics (HWP) in Hamburg .

After his military service, Jüres studied at the universities of Münster , Mainz and Grenoble , but also worked as a worker in the iron and steel industry. In 1952 he was awarded a Dr. phil. doctorate and then worked until 1958 at the social research center of the University of Münster in Dortmund . This was followed by activities for companies and organizations which Jueres combined with adult education, and he also accepted teaching assignments from universities. From 1973 he worked as a full professor at the HWP in Hamburg.
