Ernst Christian Gottlieb Jens Reinhold

Ernst Christian Gottlieb Jens Reinhold (born October 18, 1793 in Jena ; † September 17, 1855 there ) was a German philosopher.

Life

Ernst Christian Gottlieb was the son of the philosopher Carl Leonhard Reinhold and his wife Sophie Katharina Susanne Wieland, who was married on May 18, 1785 (born October 19, 1768 in Biberach; † September 1, 1837 in Kiel), the eldest daughter of Christoph Martin Wieland . He received his first training in Kiel and matriculated on February 1, 1808 at the University of Kiel . Afterwards he attended the Katharineum in Lübeck until Easter 1810 and only then began studying. In 1817 he became a high school teacher in Kiel. In 1819 he received his doctorate in philosophy in Kiel and habilitated in the same year at the University of Jena . In 1820 he became sub-director of the high school in Kiel, worked from 1822 as a private lecturer at the University of Kiel and in 1824 became a full professor of logic and metaphysics at the University of Jena.

In Jena he received the title of Hofrat and secret Hofrat of Sachsen-Weimar. Reinhold was primarily established as a representative of Immanuel Kant's philosophy . He also participated in the organizational tasks of the Salana and was rector of the Alma Mater in the summer semesters of 1832, 1841, and in the winter semester of 1848 . His son Karl Reinhold (born June 13, 1822 in Kiel; † June 3, 1910 in Weimar) received his doctorate in law, became a secret judicial councilor and Saxon district court director in Weimar.
