Ernst Dernburg

Ernst Dernburg (born April 4, 1887 in Halle (Saale) ; † July 4, 1960 in Berlin ; actually Erich Wilhelm Franz Hermann Calow ) was a German actor .

Life

Ernst Dernburg studied literary and theater history and graduated with a doctorate . In 1913 he was on stage for the first time in the play Die Journalisten by Gustav Freytag at the Königliches Schauspielhaus in Potsdam .

He then worked at the City Theater in Posen and from 1915 to 1919 at the City Theater Bremen . From 1919 to 1923 he had an engagement at the Meinhardt-Bernauer-Bühnen in Berlin. In 1923/24 he was seen at the Münchner Kammerspiele , then on various stages in Berlin.

Ernst Dernburg has been involved in silent films since the late 1910s . Especially in the twenties and thirties he played numerous supporting roles, including in Der Hauptmann von Köpenick . Since 1920 Dernburg has also worked as an assessor in the higher stage arbitration court and as a state labor judge in the artists' chamber of the state labor court.

His grave is in the Grunewald cemetery .
