Ernst Frickhinger
Ernst Frickhinger (born October 3, 1876 in Nördlingen , † October 10, 1940 in Munich ) was a pharmacist and prehistory researcher.
Life
After graduating from the humanistic grammar school in Augsburg, Ernst Frickhinger studied natural sciences and pharmacy at the universities of Munich and Erlangen. In 1898 he became a member of the Corps Bavaria Munich . He did his doctoral thesis on a botanical topic. After graduation, he settled in Nördlingen as a pharmacist and became the city's second mayor.
Through the excavations of Robert Rudolf Schmidt in the Ofnet caves and Gerhard Bersu on the Goldberg, Frickhinger found archeology. In 1911 he was a co-founder of the historical association Nördlingen . As a result, he carried out numerous excavations in the Nördlinger Ries and the adjacent landscapes, e. B. 1911 in Hohlenstein near Ederheim, 1912 in the Roman villa of Groß-Serheim, 1913 in a prehistoric settlement near Appetshofen and several times on prehistoric hilltop settlements, e.g. B. on the Rolleberg near Hoppingen .
Frickhinger published many of his excavations himself - a processing of the collections in the City Museum Nördlingen was after his death a. a. carried out by Wolfgang Dehn .
He was one of the initiators of the weather station in Nördlingen, which he headed for many years.
