Ernst Günter Tange

Ernst Günter Tange (born July 24, 1933 in Plön ; † June 30, 2013 ) was a German journalist and author of a large number of collections of quotations.

Life

Tange studied philosophy and German at the universities of Freiburg im Breisgau , Munich and Hamburg . After a traineeship at Hörzu , he worked there from 1960 to 1965 as an editor, then switched to Norddeutscher Rundfunk , most recently, until 1994, as the broadcaster's press spokesman. During and after his professional career he collected over 28,000 sayings, aphorisms and bon mots and published over 30 books on the subject of quotations. This earned him the nickname "King of Quotes". The total number of copies sold is around 700,000.
