Ernst Willi Hermann Giese (born February 14, 1911 in Althaldensleben ; † August 13, 1995 in Radebeul ) was a German chemical engineer and paper technologist .

After graduating from high school in Dresden in 1930, he began studying chemistry at the Dresden University of Technology in the same year . He graduated in 1935 (the manganese content of various softwoods and the pulps made from them are to be determined quantitatively) and received his doctorate in the same year (measurements of the surface tension of solutions of the potassium and lithium salts of higher fatty acids with the ring tear-off method under exclusion of carbon dioxide Air and with special consideration of other disturbing influences) .

In 1935 he got an assistant position at the Institute for Technical Chemistry of the Technical University of Hanover , which he occupied until the following year. As a chemist and production engineer, he began working for the Sebnitz paper mill in 1936 , where he later worked as production manager and head of the technical archive.

In 1951 he worked as a project engineer in the central project planning office for the pulp and paper industry in Heidenau. In 1952 he was given a part-time teaching assignment for paper production in Dresden.

From 1962 to 1976 he worked as a professor for paper technology at the Technical University of Dresden. Giese died in Radebeul in 1995 and was buried in the Radebeul-Ost cemetery.
