Ernst Heller (industrialist)

Ernst Heller (born December 2, 1848 in Travemünde , † June 22, 1909 in Charlottenburg ) was a German industrialist and general director of Hanover's mechanical engineering company. Georg Egestorff .

Life

Heller was born in Travemünde as the son of Pastor Dr. Balthasar Ludwig Michael Heller was born. He studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Karlsruhe , where he became a member of the Corps Frisia . After completing his studies, he was temporarily employed by Ludwig Loewe & Co. from 1892 to 1895, he was the owner of Stephan Sommermeyer & Co in Burtscheid near Aachen. On August 1, 1895, he became the technical director of the Hannoversche Maschinenbau-Aktien-Gesellschaft vorm. George. Egestorff in Linden near Hanover. Later he was their general director. Heller took care of the modernization of the production facilities for locomotive and machine construction. A complete restructuring more than doubled the performance of the company, which under his leadership achieved a leading position on the world market.

In 1899 Heller became chairman of the Hanover regional association of German engineers and in 1908 chairman of the association of German engineers . He was also chairman of the association of metal industry in the province of Hanover and neighboring areas.

In 1904, Heller received a gold medal at the World Exhibition in St. Louis for outstanding engineering performance . The Technical University of Hanover awarded him an honorary doctorate .
