Ernst König (General)
Ernst König (born May 12, 1908 in Fulda , † March 4, 1986 in Göttingen ) was a German officer , most recently major general in World War II .
Life
As a colonel , Ernst König was in command of the 31st Infantry Division for several days in June / July 1944 . From November 20, 1944 to April 12, 1945 he was in command of the 28th Infantry Division . In this position he was promoted to major general on January 30, 1945. With the division he took part in the Battle of East Prussia and the Kesselschlacht von Heiligenbeil .
From April 12 to 18, 1945, König was in command of the 12th Volksgrenadier Division (some sources overlap with Eugen König , who, however, only led the 272nd Volksgrenadier Division and not the 12th Volksgrenadier Division at the same time ). On April 18, 1945 he was captured near Wuppertal .
