Ernst Kopp (born May 14, 1954 in Ottersdorf , now in Rastatt ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and former social security clerk. Since 2011 he has been a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg . At the end of August 31, 2018, he gave up his mandate for health reasons.

education and profession

Ernst Kopp attended elementary school and secondary school in Rastatt. After attending a university of applied sciences, he worked as a social security clerk at the Baden State Insurance Institute until 1992 .

Political activity

Ernst Kopp has been a member of the SPD since 1979. From 1980 to 1994 he was a member of the Rastatt municipal council. Since 1989 he has been a member of the district council of the Rastatt district ; from 1992 to 2016 he was mayor of Bietigheim . In the state elections in 2011 , he was elected to the state parliament via the second mandate in the Rastatt state constituency. In March 2016, in the state elections in 2016 , he returned to the state parliament with a second mandate. He was a member of the Standing Committee and the Committee on Rural Areas and Consumer Protection.

Family and private

Ernst Kopp is Catholic. He has been married to his wife Beate since 1984 and has two sons. He suffered a heart attack in January 2017.
