Ernst Noelle (manufacturer)

Ernst Noelle , also Ernst Nölle , (born April 11, 1854 in Mülheim an der Ruhr , † December 20, 1916 in Iserhatsche near Bispingen ) was a German entrepreneur .

Life

Ernst Noelle grew up in the Ruhr area and came to Berlin through the steel trade at Thyssen . In 1893 he was the founder and co-owner of the steel construction company Steffens & Nölle , which was converted into a stock corporation in 1907 .

Noelle's charitable commitment included donating the church windows for the Protestant Grunewald Church, consecrated in 1904, as well as the annual Christmas tree for the Christmas services. The six antique glass windows, which contained stained glass with vegetal and decorative motifs, were destroyed in an air raid in March 1943.

Villa Noelle in Berlin-Grunewald

After building various houses in Berlin-Grunewald , on September 14, 1899, he acquired a 9000 m² plot of land on the Dianasee , Winkler Strasse 8/10, from the manufacturer Franz Pietschmann . From 1901–1902 he had a villa built there by the Berlin architects Hermann Solf and Franz Wichards , into which he moved with his wife and five children. In 1920 the heirs sold the house.

In 1913, Ernst Noelle had the Iserhatsche hunting lodge built near Bispingen in the Lüneburg Heath .

For his charitable foundations, he was awarded the honorary title of royal Prussian commercial councilor .

One of his five children was the general director of the Berlin Tobis film company . The pollster Elisabeth Noelle-Neumann was a granddaughter .
