Ernst Pauler (* 1903 in Austria ; † February 3, 1959 in Orizaba , Mexico ) was an Austrian football goalkeeper and coach .

biography

Ernst "Ernesto" Pauler guarded the gate for SK Rapid Wien in the three seasons from 1921/22 to 1923/24 , with which he won the championship in 1923 . For the 1924/25 season he moved to city rivals Vienna , where he did not get a chance of missions behind the national goalkeeper Karl Ostricek .

After that he made - unusual for those times - the leap across the Atlantic and played for the Mexican club Necaxa , with whom he in 1933 as a player and in 1935 again as coach, the championship won.

Even after his active career, Pauler stayed in Mexico and won the soccer championship of Mexico as head coach with CF Asturias in the opening season of the Mexican professional league in 1943/44. He later coached the ADO , the "legal successor" of the first champions in Mexican football history, Orizaba AC. The club, now known as Albinegros , is based in the tranquil town of Orizaba, which once played an important role in the industrialization of Mexico.

Through his marriage to Fala Avellá, the first Carnival Princess of Orizaba in 1927, Pauler spent the rest of his life in this city and died there of a serious illness.
