Ernst Pflaumer (born December 17, 1905 in Röthenbach an der Pegnitz , † March 17, 1985 in Hersbruck ) was a German painter and museum director.

Life

From 1922 to 1927 he studied with Rudolf Schiestl at the Nuremberg School of Applied Arts and then with Hans Meid at the Berlin Academy . He went on art trips to Italy, Paris and elsewhere. Since 1931, with the exception of the war years, he worked continuously as a painter and graphic artist in Hohenstadt an der Pegnitz in Middle Franconia . As a native and nature-loving person, he took his motifs mainly from the low mountain range of the Franconian Jura and processed them in watercolors, lithographs, oil paintings and - as his artistic focus - in etching.

The artist was also director of the German Shepherd Museum in Hersbruck for many years and in this capacity wrote a museum guide. In 1980 he was able to exhibit 50 of his own works in this museum. Before that, he took part in exhibitions in various cities and passed on his knowledge, especially about the art of etching, in courses.

Works by him are part of the foundation of the Hersbruck Art Museum, which was founded in 2000 .
