Thuringian state exhibition
The title Thuringian State Exhibition is awarded by the Free State of Thuringia for particularly important exhibition projects.
The first exhibition "The young Bach - because he cannot be stopped ..." was dedicated to the composer Johann Sebastian Bach in 2000 in the Erfurt Predigerkirche and was visited by 38,500 people.
The second exhibition on the subject of "Newly discovered - Land of Residences" saw 90,000 visitors in 2004 in the Residenzschloss Sondershausen .
The third exhibition took place from July 7th to November 19th 2007 at the Wartburg and in the Predigerkirche in Eisenach under the title “ Elisabeth von Thüringen. A European Saint ” took place.
The fourth exhibition was in 2011 in the Schillermuseum and Residenzschloss Weimar under the theme “Franz Liszt. A European in Thuringia ”.
The fifth exhibition in 2015 was themed “Cranach in Thuringia”. It took place in several places: Erfurt, Gotha, Neustadt an der Orla, Weimar and on the Wartburg.
The sixth state exhibition under the title “The Ernestines . A dynasty shapes Europe ”took place from April 24 to August 28, 2016 in Weimar and Gotha . The organizers were the Klassik Stiftung Weimar and the Schloss Friedenstein Gotha Foundation. In Weimar the exhibition took place in the New Museum Weimar and in the Weimar City Palace, in Gotha the exhibition was shown in the Schloss Friedenstein and in the Ducal Museum .
