Ernst Pfleger

Ernst Pfleger (born October 25, 1947 in Vienna ) is an Austrian transport scientist and politician ( SPÖ ). Since 2004 he has been a member of the Vienna State Parliament and a member of the Vienna City Council .

education and profession

Ernst Pfleger studied cultural engineering and water management at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna from 1967 to 1972 . He also studied traffic planning, statistics and IT at the Vienna University of Technology .

Pfleger worked from 1977 in the Vienna city administration in the higher technical service, was head of MA 46 and traffic safety officer. Pfleger has been a sworn court expert for road safety since 1983 . He was involved in setting up a Viennese EDP accident query system (accident database) and carried out systematic accident research in Vienna.

In 1988 he completed his habilitation and was given a permanent teaching position for road safety and local accident research. He created procedures for evaluating road traffic accidents in Austria and has been head of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Traffic System Analysis , Interdisciplinary Accident Research and Accident Reconstruction since 1997 , where he researched gaze behavior in particular . In addition, since 2000 he has headed the Transport Commission in the Vienna City Planning Department.

politics

Ernst Pfleger was initially involved in district politics, was deputy chairman of the young generation in Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus as well as section head and deputy chairman of education in the district. From 1985 to 2004 he was a district councilor in Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus, and from 1999 he was also club chairman. He is a board member of the district organization and is active in the Association of Social Democratic Academics, Intellectuals and Artists . Since May 19, 2004 Pfleger has been a member of the state parliament and local council. He is a member of the Environment Committee in the 18th legislative period.
