The defensive player moved to Kickers Offenbach in 1970 as an A-youth and made his debut on November 7, 1971 in the qualifying game for the 1972 UEFA youth tournament in Ronneby against Sweden in the national youth team . In the 1-1 draw he formed together with Helmut Roleder (goalkeeper), Herbert Hein , Charly Körbel and Klaus Bruckmann the defense of the DFB team trained by coach Herbert Widmayer .
