Ernst Schwerin (born December 29, 1869 in Breslau , † November 25, 1946 in New York City ) was a German entrepreneur .

Schwerin was the son of the factory owner and commercial judge Adolf Schwerin and his wife Fanny Schwerin nee. Rinkel. He was married to Stefanie geb. Ehrlich, a daughter of Nobel Prize winner Paul Ehrlich . The marriage resulted in two sons.

Life

Schwerin attended the Elisabet-Gymnasium in Breslau and studied chemistry in Munich and Breslau. He joined his father's company J. Schwerin & Söhne AG (mechanical hemp and tow yarn spinning mill, twine, shoe yarn and twine factory) in Breslau and later became the company's board member. He also acted as a commercial judge .

During the First World War , Schwerin was deputy chairman of the hemp war committee and German chairman of the German-Austria-Hungarian executive committee for the bast fiber industry. He was a member of the Wroclaw Chamber of Commerce, where he was chairman of the industry committee, member of the foreign trade committee of the German Industry and Trade Congress , deputy chairman of the Association of German Hemp Industrialists and a member of the main committee of the Reich Association of German Industry .

After the National Socialist seizure of power , he emigrated to the USA in 1938 .
