Ernst Stiedenroth (born May 11, 1794 in Hanover , † May 3, 1858 in Greifswald ) was a German philosopher .

Life

Ernst Stiedenroth began studying theology in Göttingen at the age of 18 , but then switched to philosophy . On April 16, 1816, he received his doctorate and habilitated a year later in order to be able to give lectures in Göttingen. On May 29, 1819 he went to the university in Berlin and gave lectures on the encyclopedia and history of philosophy, logic, psychology and pedagogy. On May 9, 1825, Stiedenroth was appointed associate professor at the University of Greifswald . After Muhrbeck's death , he became a full professor of philosophy there.

Goethe valued Stiedenroth's writings and mentions him with praise in his writings. Stiedenroth is assigned to the Herbartians .
