Ernst Umhauer (born December 2, 1989 in Cherbourg , Normandy ) is a French actor .
biography
Ernst Umhauer's family originally comes from Alsace . His father, a photographer, named him after the famous German painter and sculptor Max Ernst . Ernst Umhauer grew up in Cherbourg. He attended the local schools, where he sat once. He took acting lessons for three years at the theater of the local culture house. After appearing sporadically on television from 2009, he had his first film role as a young novice alongside Vincent Cassel in his mystery thriller The Monk .
His big breakthrough came in 2012 when he played the character of Claude Garcia in François Ozone's literary film adaptation In Her House . He was awarded a Prix Lumières for Best Young Actor and received a nomination at the 2013 French César Film Prize , also in the category of Best Young Actor .
