Ernst Vollert (lawyer)

Ernst Vollert (born August 25, 1890 in Konitz ; † February 3, 1977 ) was a German lawyer and ministerial official.

Life

Vollert studied law at Philipps University and became a member of the Corps Guestphalia Marburg in 1909 . After the two legal state exams and the doctorate to Dr. iur. he began his career in 1923 in the Reich Ministry of Finance . He later moved to the Reich Ministry of the Interior , where from 1936 he headed the department for surveying and border issues as ministerial director. In 1933 he joined the NSDAP . Known to the former Prussian Finance Minister Johannes Popitz , he made himself available to him in 1943 for the planned overthrow after a successful attack on Adolf Hitler . A little later he was transferred to Prague with the recently replaced Reich Minister of the Interior Wilhelm Frick , where Frick became Reich Inspector for the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia . The conspirators envisaged Vollert as political representative for the military district XXI (Posen) . Three days after the failed assassination attempt on July 20, 1944 , Vollert was arrested by the Gestapo in Prague . He was released after a fortnight at Frick's instigation and survived the Nazi era . After the war, Vollert became district administrator in the old district of Hersfeld in 1947 . Then he was a lawyer and notary in Bad Hersfeld. He died at the age of 86, leaving behind his wife Liesel nee. Pforr , two daughters and a son.

His memoirs are in the library of the German Resistance Memorial Center .
