Sebastian Sigler (2014)

Sebastian Sigler (born April 25, 1964 in Bielefeld ) is a German historian and journalist .

Life

Even as a student at the Ratsgymnasium Bielefeld , Sigler worked as a journalist. After graduating from high school, he studied mediaeval studies , modern history , literary studies and art history at the University of Bielefeld , the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and the University of Cologne from 1983 . In 1989 he received his Magister Artium . He then served for broadcast Studio 1 of the ZDF operates. At the beginning of 1991 he switched to Bavarian television . From 1993 he worked for the ARD magazine Report from Munich , from 1996 for Focus TV , Sat.1 and print media . In 2000 he made a documentary film with Hans Kammerlander in Pakistan for Radiotelevisione Italiana and Austrian Broadcasting . In his doctoral thesis he dealt with Anselm von Havelberg . In 2005 he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD. From 2013 to 2018 he was editor-in-chief of the stock exchange and financial magazine Börse am Sonntag . Since 2015 he has been responsible for the web presence of the debate magazine The European . He has been writing for the newspaper for communal economy (ZfK) since 2017, and for Tichy's insight since 2018 .

In Munich he worked for the Chrysanthemum Ball from 1988 to 2017 , and from 2003 also in various responsible positions. In 1997 he was one of the founders of a youth camp run by Johanniter-Unfallhilfe , which enables disabled children and young people (and their families) to have a week off. It already has eleven branches across Central Europe. Sigler has been an honorary knight of the Order of St. John since 1998 and has been a corps student ( Kösener Senioren-Convents-Verband ) since 1992 . From 1992 to 2017 he was a member of the Corps Bavaria Munich , since the beginning of 2017 he has been a member of the Corps Masovia Königsberg in Potsdam . From 2004 to 2007 he was deputy chairman of the Association of Old Corps Students . Since 2009 he has been the chairman of the working group of student historians . The Association of Old Corps Students awarded him the silver bowl in 2013. For several years he has been investigating the biographical links between the resistance fighters against National Socialism . The Convent of German Academic Associations elected him 2nd chairman in 2019.
