Erol Erman

Erol Erman (* 1942 ; † August 26, 2018 ) was an architect .

Erol Erman, born in 1942, studied at the Devlet Güzel Sanatlar Akademisi in Istanbul , Turkey and worked in various architectural offices in Istanbul, Paris and London .

In 1977, together with Klaus Schuwirth, he became a partner in the architectural office S & E, which was also known as Schuwirth, Erman & Partner and in which he last acted as one of two managing partners.

The most famous buildings from this working group include, for example, the Luise Gallery , built in 1987 , which made a name for itself in particular with its glass rotunda, or the so-called " Hanging House " in the Heideviertel on Karl-Wiechert-Allee in Hanover, which was built in 2014 in favor of an extension the insurance company Mecklenburgische was canceled.

Schuwirth and Erman came up with the plans for the glass pyramid restaurant in the immediate vicinity. The duo also designed numerous buildings in Hanover's shopping streets and helped design the medical park .

From 1992 the architecture office expanded its sphere of activity, initially to Frankfurt am Main and Berlin , but from 2000 also expanded its sphere of activity to Pakistan and Cambodia , and also built for the software developer SAP in California .

The partnership between Erman and Schuwirth lasted 37 years. The Berlin office was closed around 2015 because Erol Erman could no longer work due to his illness.

Erol Erman died on August 26, 2018 after a long illness. The divorced left two daughters and two grandchildren. The family posthumously announced the architect's funeral in September 2018 in the Bothfeld district cemetery .
