The shops of Galerie Luise can be described as exclusive. There are around 35 shops on a shopping area of 4900 m². There are international boutiques for men's and women's fashion, shoe fashion and some restaurants. The building complex also has around 10,000 m² of office space and an underground car park with around 500 parking spaces. The arcade's shops host events such as moonlight shopping with shopping until midnight.

Building history

The Luise Gallery was opened in 1987 after a two-year construction period. The interior was built on a plot of land that was the last fallow land in the post-war period and which until then served as a parking lot and storage area. In 2008 a major renovation took place.

The starting point for setting up the shopping arcade was a large merchant building in Theaterstrasse with an Art Nouveau facade . Traditional shops for household goods and office supplies had their headquarters here since the turn of the century. The Hanover Museum Society was also represented here.

The building was badly damaged during the Second World War . During an Allied air raid on Hanover on July 26, 1943, incendiary stick bombs fell into the attic and started a fire that destroyed the roof structures and the gable towers. Further war damage was caused by phosphor bombs in a bombing on October 8, 1943. Reconstruction work, in which the original architectural style of the building was restored, took place between 1948 and 1952.
