Eromanga is a small town in Queensland . Eromanga is 126 kilometers from Quilpie , 316 kilometers from Charleville and can be reached from the Opal Highway . In the vicinity of the village there are oil wells in the Eromanga Basin , which produce 1.5 million barrels of oil every year. Opals are also found near the place .
In the village there is the Old Royal Hotel of 1885. It is the only building from the pioneering days of Australia, which has been preserved and the transport company Co Cobb was hit. Eromanga was named a city in the 1870s when opals were found and the population rose to around 300 people as a result.
There is an outdoor area on which machines that were used in opal mining are exhibited. In the attached museum there is a Living History Center with historical pictures and a park with mineral finds close to the museum.
Eromanga was badly affected by the Queensland floods in 2010/2011 .
Eromanga claims to be the most distant place in Australia from a sea. In fact, this does not correspond to reality, but so far no other place has made this claim.
