Errol Kerr (born April 12, 1986 in Truckee , California ) is an American freestyle skier and sporadic ski racer who competes for Jamaica . In freestyle, he specializes in the discipline of ski cross .

Career

Kerr is the son of a Jamaican and an American. The dual citizen learned to ski in the Lake Tahoe region . Like most ski crossers, he was initially an alpine skier and initially drove for the American Ski Association. From December 2001 he competed in FIS races , the first victory followed in March 2003. From February 2004 he was also used in the Nor-Am Cup , where he concentrated on the disciplines Downhill and Super-G . Notable successes were largely absent, his best result in a Nor-Am race was a sixth place in the 2006/07 season. In September 2006 he won the New Zealand Giant Slalom Championships.

Since the 2007/08 season, Kerr has only sporadically competed in alpine races. On January 12, 2008, he made his debut in the Freestyle Skiing World Cup , now starting for Jamaica , and reached twelfth place in Les Contamines . Almost two months later he moved up to eighth place in Hasliberg , which is also his best result so far. At the 2009 World Cup in Inawashiro , he was tenth. With an eleventh place on January 13, 2010 in L'Alpe d'Huez , Kerr qualified for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and was allowed to carry the flag of Jamaica at the opening ceremony. There he was the first Jamaican to compete in a ski discipline. He was eliminated in the quarterfinals and reached ninth place among 33 participants in the overall ranking.
