The 2016 Erste Liga was the 22nd season of the second highest Kazakh division in men's football . The season started on April 10th and ended on October 30th, 2016.

First there was a preliminary round with a return leg, then the best six teams played the champions and the promoted teams, while the last four played in the relegation round. The master rose to the premjer league , the second could still rise via relegation.
