The 2006 First League was the twelfth season of the second-highest Kazakh division in men's football . The season started on May 4th and ended on October 8th, 2006.

The 27 teams were divided into two regional groups. Each team played against each other twice. The winner of the group southwest rose to the super league . In contrast, Avangard Petropawl was denied promotion due to a lack of financial means.
