Erwin Koller

Erwin Koller (born May 20, 1947 in Innsbruck , † April 18, 2010 in Lisbon ) was an Austrian German and Lusitanist .

Life

Erwin Koller studied at the University of Innsbruck , the university in his hometown. He received his doctorate in 1970 with the work The motivational circle of illness and wounding. Function and linguistic realization in German poetry of the Middle Ages (Innsbruck 1971). He taught as an assistant at the University of Innsbruck and completed his habilitation there with the font dance of death. Attempt to describe a text (Innsbruck 1980). After visiting professorships abroad and a representation at the University of Augsburg , he was offered a position at the University of Würzburg . There he worked as a professor of German linguistics from 1983 to 1993 before he decided to emigrate (again) with his Portuguese wife and dare to make a fresh start as a professor at the Universidade do Minho . In Braga he headed the German Department of the Faculty of Humanities (ILCH - Instituto de Letras e Ciências Humanas) for eleven years, from 1993 until his early retirement in June 2004. In 1999 Erwin Koller was responsible for creating the German-Portuguese postgraduate degree (specialization and Mestrado) as an intercultural and bilingual postgraduate course.
