Erwin Machunze

Erwin Machunze (born June 23, 1911 in Široký Brod , † March 14, 1982 in Vienna ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and social security employee. From 1949 to 1971 he was a member of the Austrian National Council .

Life

Machunze attended business school after primary school and then worked from 1930 to 1938 as secretary or general secretary of the Sudeten German Christian trade unions. He then worked in the private sector and between 1945 and 1955 worked as a journalist for freedom and the Kleine Volksblatt . In 1956 he entered the service of the Main Association of Austrian Social Insurance Institutions, and subsequently became Deputy Director of the Workers' Pension Insurance Institution.

Machuze was involved as head of the department for displaced persons in the state party leadership of the ÖVP Vienna and was federal chairman of the "Klemens community". He was involved in an organization of Catholic expellees and was chairman of the advisory board for refugee issues. In addition, the ÖVP represented between November 8, 1949 and June 24, 1970 and from October 19, 1970 to November 4, 1971 in the National Council.

Erwin Machunze was invested in the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem in Salzburg in 1956 .
