biography

Erwin Ross began his career in 1948. He painted posters or portraits for events and the SED . His posters and pictures soon became too erotic for the party leadership. In 1955 he therefore moved to Hamburg and worked there as a dock worker and poster painter. He also painted the bass drums of the Beatles and the Rattles with their names.

Erwin Ross's important period began in the late 1960s. He became a painter and interior designer. He attracted a lot of attention with his depictions, which were very erotic for the time. His style had a significant impact on the streetscape of Hamburg's Kiez . In Hamburg he is also called the "Rubens of the Reeperbahn".
