Erwin Sack

Erwin Sack (born March 23, 1935 in Karlsruhe , † March 21, 1999 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Sack was an architect by profession and self-employed from 1969.

In 1957 Sack became a member of the SPD. From 1966 he sat on the city council of Karlsruhe. In 1973 he became a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg . He moved up for the late Hermann Veit . In the state elections in 1976 and 1980, he won the second mandate in the state electoral district of Karlsruhe II . In 1981 Sack was appointed building mayor of Karlsruhe, and from 1991 to 1995 he was first mayor.

In 1984 he was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class and in 1995 with the Medal of Honor of the City of Karlsruhe .
