Erwin Wrbka

Erwin Wrbka (born August 1, 1929 - March 26, 2012 ) was an Austrian civil engineer , civil servant of the Austrian Federal Railways and department head in the Federal Ministry of Transport and honorary professor at the University of Innsbruck .

Life

Erwin Wrbka studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Vienna and began in 1956 as a graduate engineer at the Austrian Federal Railways in the cable car supervision department. In 1966 he graduated as Dr. techn. with the dissertation on vibrations of the suspension cables of cable cars at the Technical University of Vienna.

Erwin Wrbka was at least from 1966 Federal Railroad Construction Officer (salary group VIII) in Electrical Service Section II (General Directorate of the Austrian Federal Railways) in the Federal Ministry of Transport and Electricity. In 1968 he was Federal Railway Construction Officer (salary group IXa) in Electrical Service Section II (General Directorate of Austrian Federal Railways) nationalized companies in the Federal Ministry of Transport.

At least from 1977 to 1980 he was an employee and Federal Railway Central Inspector , later Federal Railway Directorate and from 1980 to 1992 Head of Department II / 7 (cableway technical matters and technical matters of T-bar lifts etc.) in Section II (Supreme Authority for Railways, Motor Lines , Pipelines and drag lifts) in the Federal Ministry of Transport.

From 1974 to 1992 he was a lecturer and honorary professor for ropeway construction at what was then the Institute for Railway Engineering at the University of Innsbruck . Internationally he became known through his participation in meetings of the International Conference of Technical Supervisory Authorities (ITTAB) and from 1985 as chairman of Study Committee I of the International Organization for the Cable Car Industry (OITAF).

Erwin Wrbka died on March 26, 2012 after a long and serious illness. He was buried at the Ober Sankt Veiter cemetery .
