Erwin Zankel

Erwin Zankel (born April 4, 1941 in Thörl , Upper Styria ) is a former editor-in-chief of the Kleine Zeitung .

Life

After attending the secondary school in Bruck an der Mur , Zankel studied law at the Karl-Franzens University in Graz . He was in the Students' Union worked and worked on the student newspaper "Pulse". After completing his studies, Zankel was press officer for ÖVP Styria for a year .

In 1965 he joined the Kleine Zeitung as an editorial candidate . He began his work in the political editorial office, where he soon attracted attention for his committed contributions.

On October 1, 1968, the Kleine Zeitung bought Grazer Montag, which had previously been published in Vienna , and redesigned it under the direction of Zankel as the seventh edition of the Kleine Zeitung. The national political column "Hakelzieh'n", which he wrote, became a special focus. In the following years, in addition to his work in regional and domestic politics, Zankel increasingly devoted himself to business journalism, becoming an expert on the problem of nationalized industry in Austria.

On May 1, 1982 Zankel was appointed head of the domestic affairs department, and on November 4, 1994, he was appointed deputy editor-in-chief of the Kleine Zeitung. On January 1, 1998, he was appointed editor-in-chief and publishing director of the Kleinen Zeitung Graz / Klagenfurt . From September 1999 until his retirement at the end of March 2006, he was also the managing director of the Kleinen Zeitung GmbH & Co KG. His successor as editor-in-chief is Hubert Patterer .
