Erwin Zschokke

Rudolf Emil Erwin Zschokke (born August 3, 1855 in Gontenschwil , † June 9, 1929 in Zurich ) was a Swiss veterinarian .

He was the grandson of the writer Heinrich Zschokke , brother of Richard Zschokke and father of Max Zschokke .

Erwin Zschokke taught at the veterinary school in Zurich from 1877. After it was incorporated into the University of Zurich as the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 1901 , Erwin Zschokke was Professor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Zurich until his retirement in 1925. From 1905 to 1925 he was also the director of the Zurich Animal Hospital. Erwin Zschokke was rector of the University of Zurich from 1916 to 1918.

Politically, Erwin Zschokke worked as a member of the Free Democratic Party from 1889 as a city councilor and from 1894 as a cantonal councilor .
