features

Representatives of the Erythrodiplax bromeliicola reach 30 to 34 millimeters, of which 20 to 22 millimeters are on the abdomen , which is black in the males and brown in the females. The abdominal appendages are brownish black and almost straight at the top. Only the end bends slightly upwards. There are a few teeth on the lower edge. The unpaired dorsal plate of the eleventh abdominal segment , the so-called epiproct, is about a sixth shorter than the abdominal appendages and also bends upwards at the end.

While the hull in the males is black and has only one around halbmillimetrigen bright stripe in the middle of the back, the basic color is brown in females. The legs are black in both sexes. Except for a very weak brown spot on the base of the wing, the wings are transparent.

Brown is the predominant color of the face. Towards the back of the head, this turns into black in the males. The forehead , which is bluish black in the males, has a metallic sheen in the females.
