(2001)

Industrial Silence is the debut album by the Norwegian rock group Madrugada and was released in 1999 by Virgin . The recordings took place in the Athletic Sound Studios in Halden , Norway. The album was produced by the band together with Kai Andersen. The well-known producer and sound engineer John Agnello , who had previously worked for Dinosaur Jr. , the Breeders and the Screaming Trees , among others, sat at the mixer . The album went from zero to one in the Norwegian album charts . No Norwegian artist had done this before. After that, the album stayed in the Norwegian album charts for 35 weeks.

History of origin

Under the name Abbey's Adoption, the band had already released two EPs in 1995, on which Salt Satan and Bittersweet Electric released two early versions of the titles Salt and Electric by Industrial Silence. After being renamed Madrugada, the band got a record deal with Virgin Music Norway. This was followed by two EP releases, EP and New Depression EP , which included the titles Belladonna , Strange Color Blue and Higher , which were later re-recorded for the album. The EP was limited to 750 pressings, the band refused a new edition and made sure that the recordings became sought-after collector's items. The first 5000 copies of Industrial Silence sold in Norway included a bonus CD with three additional titles, an unknown number of which were also released in other European countries. These bonus tracks were also available on the vinyl version of the album.

Deluxe Edition

The bonus tracks as well as the titles of the EPs and other B-sides not used for the album were released in 2010 on the double CD Industrial Silence Deluxe Edition . The first CD contains the newly mixed album, the second CD contains the remaining pieces. The remastering was carried out by Greg Calbi in the Sterling Sound Studio in New York, which is renowned for this task.
