(2002)

The Nightly Disease is the second album by the Norwegian band Madrugada . It was recorded at Water Music Recorders Studios in Hoboken near New York City from August to October 2000 . It was produced by the band together with John Agnello , who had already worked as a mixer on the band's debut album Industrial Silence . Like its predecessor, the album entered the Norwegian album charts at number one .

History of origin

After the release of their first album Industrial Silence in 1999, the band went on tour through Norway and Europe. Some pieces of the new album were already created. Work on the successor began in summer / autumn 2000. Recordings began on August 21, 2000 and lasted eight weeks, although the original plan was six weeks. The American slide guitarist Eric Heywood and the American singer Siobhan Duffy took part in the recordings for some pieces . The mixing of the album also took longer than planned. A first version turned out to be too weak, so the band traveled to Hoboken again in November 2000 to find a mix with Agnello in which Sivert Høyem's vocal voice could be brought out more powerfully. The mastering was carried out in January 2001 at Sterling Sound Studio in New York by Greg Calbi.

Deluxe Edition 2011

Greg Calbi, the "Senior Mastering Engineer" at Sterling Sound Studios, also remastered the Deluxe Edition 10 years later ; He had already done the same in 2010 for the deluxe edition of the album Industrial Silence . As with the previous album, the second CD features other tracks previously published on EPs and B-sides. Due to the abundance of material, three additional pieces have already been pushed on CD 1 after the regular album. The piece The Lost Gospel was first published in 2005 on the album The Deep End in a new version. The titles on CD 2 also include two cover versions by Neil Young and Lee Hazlewood , each originally recorded for tribute albums by these composers.
